God's Bailout Plan

So a church in Detroit actually had a service where the focus of the meeting was praying for God to somehow intervene in saving America's automakers. I realize that they also were praying for the employees and families that might be affected if a bailout plan wasn't approved, but there is no doubt they were looking for a miracle.

“We have done all that we can do in this union, so I turn it over to the Lord,” General Holiefield, a U.A.W. vice president for Chrysler, told the crowd. A vice president for the parts suppliers, James Settles Jr., asked those present “to continue your prayers, so we can see a miracle next week.”

I sure hope the Good Lord will pull off a miracle up here! This state is truly depressed, in an economic as well as emotional sense.

Put a lightsaber in that woman's hand, and she'd be a Jedi or Sith Lord! Sorry for the distraction, but if you squint just a little, it looks like a scene from the Galactic Senate in Star Wars.

Well let's hope the force is strong with her then...

The bible tells us quite directly to ask for the things we need. I'm not sure that the cars on stage are quite nessecary (pretty sure God doesn't need a visual aid), but hey...I've still got a job. Who knows if i wouldn't be face down in front of that crazy Jedi preacher-lady praying my eyes out for a miracle.

Not to get to political here, but the question is if the miracle of a bailout is really what's best for America right now...

I see this as a time for Corporations to finally be held accountable for their reckless fiscal behavior, and if it breaks the American workers back to learn that lesson, maybe we will rise up (as America does) and grow some balls to stand up against repeating these same mistakes.

Truth is, I'm a BMW guy (not that I have one...). American cars can suck it. Just my opinion.

Presumably these people don't give a hoot about the rest of the world, which is also suffering from the consequences of the economic downturn. As long as American car companies are saved, the rest of the world can go hang. Hmm, what's wrong with this picture?

I hope the UAW is praying that they can stop making outrageous demands that are tanking the american auto companies.
Oh yeah, maybe pray for wisdom for the engineers in the companies as well. Maybe that way they can create a car that actually runs well past the 10,000 mile mark.
